So I'm back to that point where I can't really show much progress for spoiler reasons but I'd just like to let you guys know that by... like, the end of today, I should be done up to (but not including) chapter 26. Chapter 25 was going to have some... somewhat larger changes made to it, but I decided against it because 1) I felt it was going to interrupt the plot a little, 2) It felt a little misplaced, 3) I felt it was a little excessive because *SPOILER* there's a gaiden chapter right after chapter 25 and well, the new feature would practically be like adding another gaiden chapter... and 4) adding the gaiden there would not make the game as fun as saving it for later.
So yeah I know I'm being very vague but this is probably news for the better. The feature will likely be easier to implement and will go along better with the post-game "dungeon", Fallen Universe, which I may or may not have mentioned here. If I haven't mentioned it here let me know so I can briefly touch upon it (but again I can't spoil too much... XP).
Anyhow once I get myself organized I'm going to kick it into new-hacking mode and hit up chapter 26, and to be honest scripting new chapters won't be too much different than what I've been doing so for in the revamp (which I suppose is pretty much finished once I tie up some final loose ends), so yeah... Eventually I'm going to be taking a long break to work on the game's final battle animations (at least Kelik's, anyway, this awesome guy named Ragnarok has been helping me with other battle animations, such as the Imperial Generals... but once again I can't say more than that D:) so... I just wanted to kind of let people know that's going to happen.
tl;dr I finished the revamp up to chapter 26 and am now going to finish chapter 26 and work on the new chapters, taking breaks here and there, working on the final sprites, features, etc., and won't be making too many interesting updates in an attempt to keep the latter half (I say half because game-time wise... chapter 20-end game is probably about 1/2 the game >_>) a secret. Thus it's "secret progress".

If the game is that long, won't you have too many 20/20 characters relatively early?
ReplyDeleteYou're supposed to use near the max amount of characters allowed per chapter. This allows you to have a LOT of characters that are level 20/20, and they will probably reach so by about chapter 27, even without abuse. Or so I think, anyway. Anyhow, if you try and be cool and just have an elite team of like 10 characters or less you're going to have a hard time with the later chapters, they require a lot of units and just being 20/20 and having max stats (i.e. quality) isn't going to cut-it. Besides, why have 8 characters at 20/20 when you can have 15? XP
